2010/07/12 Letter Home

Hey Yall,

This week was a pretty normal week I would have to say nothing way to crazy happened. We are finally starting to find some people that I see some real potential in. Elder Cowan is still pretty new to the area and im brand new so we are still getting to know the ward and stuff so that we can get them more involved. We actually had kind of a surprise Zone conference this week which was really long haha but it was really good. We learned a lot of new things its pretty important it couldnt wait so they

called us on I think last monday and they did it on wednesday it actaully changes a lot of the way that we do things. So with one of these new changes we are going to go up to columbia once every other month and have a big training meeting with all of the district and zone leaders and trainers in the mission haha so I am going to be staying on the floor of some other missionaries apartment actually It is my old zone leaders apartment so I get to go and see half of my old district and see how everything is going there. We now have Zone conference one transfer and interviews on the next transfer so they will be quarterly now instead of every six weeks like they have been. We are also trying out a new program that Elder Gonzalez wanted president McConkie to kind of come up with and pilot it. Its pretty cool I like it we are to teach the members the doctrine and help them to be able to answer their friends questions and stuff to be ab le to get them more involved in missionary work. Haha then Irronically enough I got a call from one of the counselors in the bishopric to give a talk last sunday I guess that someone backed ou on them and so I got to fill in haha they always call on us short notice but hey I guess we are good at it because they just keep asking us to do things. He told me that I could choose my topic so of course I chose the one thing I like best to speak on and that is missionary work and member missionary work. Haha it was interesting I went up there with pretty much no notes and just talked It went pretty much nothin like what I had kinda planned out in my mind but I had quite a few people tell me it was really good they liked it. One of the woman in the ward was impressed I looked out at the crowd instead of just reading a talk haha so that was cool. But I would have to say that something way awesome happened and its pretty ironic that I just happened to be talking about member missionary work when we find out a less active girl brought her friend to church. It turns out that her friend just got out of basic training and she actally went to church when she was there and she came here and really liked it. She knows quite a few members and it was just a really good experience she also said that her mom is interested and so we are going over tonight to teach them and hopefully set them on a baptism date. Im really excited I think that she is for sure going to get baptized soon!

Looking forward to a sweet week of lots of meetings and sleeping on the floor buts it ok I think we are going to buy us some air mattresses to use haha. Well hope everything and everyone is good please feel free to write anytime as always mail is great:)
